This week started out by getting reed and Dylan moved out of campus and into drakes house with all of their necessities. We then set up the studio with The drum kits, guitar amps, Bass amp  and guitar racks. We did some minor soundproofing on the walls, and then hung up cloth tapestries around the room to dampen the sound further. We got all ot the wiring and our two microphones set up. And started jamming as a band with Dylan on drums reed producing and drake and i on guitar. After a little while of that we discovered that we were going to need more equipment, so Dylans Parents generously bought us a brand new mixing board, interfaces, and multiple different kinds of microphones for recording amps, vocals, and drums. We had two of our close friends who don't go to proctor hop on board to help us record this album. The first being Joe derby, an outstanding guitarist, And the second being my friend Abe Belcourt who is our bass player. We jammed a lot with this new equipment and started writing and putting together riffs and lyrics that we had been coming up with both over the last few weeks and right on the spot. We still needed to get a few more cables so that my vocals could be heard through our monitors while we were jamming so reed later went back to his house to grab those as well as a few other things we had forgotten. We spent a lot of the next few days doing sound checks, levels for the drums, bass, two guitars, and vocals. We  eventually figured out the right levels and started recording our jam sessions and it actually turned out better than expected with this professional quality studio equipment we now have. Everything is coming together as we planned and we are pumped for our first track to be finished. It is hard to work around everyones schedules with drake playing baseball, Dylan being in the musical and both Abe and Joe working. Yet we are working throughout the time when various people cant be there and we are making strides toward our final goal of the best Grey Space album to date.

  1. Hi Zach,
This appears to be a good account of how time is being spent along with some of the challenges you're running into with personnel being absent. Would love to see your working schedule that shows exactly when people are expect to be on site and what specifically you'll be working on during those times. An actual daily schedule is what I need.

Curious about your comment about "our first track to be finished." Does this mean one track, one session, capture, edited, mixed, bounced out? Can you clarify what you meant?
